Smartphone ini didesain dengan konsep slim dan stylish, menghadirkan modern square dengan metalik pada bodynya. Smartphone ini termasuk kategori ponsel tipis, karena tebalnya 9.1 milimeter.

Smartphone ini memiliki disaplay 4.7-inch IPS. LG mengklaim display pada L9 mampu menghadirkan tampilan yang sangat alamiah dan akan memberikan pengalaman baru. Menggunakan baterai berkapasitas besar dan tahan lama, 2,150mAh SiO+

Smartphone ini mempunyai fitur unggulan. Salah satu fitur terbarunya adalah QTranslator yang tidak sekadar memiliki kemampuan menterjemahkan kata-kata, tetapi juga kalimat hingga prasa untuk 44 bahasa.

Kemampuan fitur ini didukung teknologi Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Denga teknologi ini, suatu surat yang discan dengan L9 bisa diterjemahkan secara elektronik, termasuk bantuan online untuk penterjemahan.
